Hangping Xu is pursing his doctoral degree at Stanford University.
He holds two Master’s degrees in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies. With a transnational and interdisciplinary scope, he researches modern and contemporary Chinese literature, film, and culture. His interests within FGSS include the intersection of gender and nationalism, bio-politics and theories of embodiment, feminist eco-criticism, and global identity politics. His (scholarly and creative) writings and translations have appeared or are forthcoming in journals and edited collections. He has taught at the college level for more than six years both as a TA and as the sole instructor. In 2015, he received the Centennial Teaching Award from Stanford University.
