Marta Hanson is the Associate Director of the Stanford Women’s Community Center (WCC).
Marta graduated from Stanford in 2011 with degrees in American Studies (thematic focus: “Perspectives on Justice”) and Feminist Studies. While on campus, she served as the Outreach Coordinator for the WCC, produced social justice theater pieces as part of the Stanford Theater Activist Mobilization Project (STAMP), co-founded the random acts of kindness group Project[Love], and completed internships in Spain and Germany relating to immigrant rights, girls’ leadership development, and human trafficking rehabilitation.
After graduating, Marta worked in both the Washington, DC and San Francisco offices of NARAL Pro-Choice America to protect and expand reproductive freedom, and later served as the Deputy Finance Director for the 2014 re-election campaign of California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris. Marta returned to the Farm – and to the wonderful Women’s Community Center.
Marta devotes much of her spare time to volunteer work. She is the board chair of the Stanford Alumni Women’s Impact Network (WIN), which she helped launch in 2012, and she serves as the Curriculum Co-Chair on the San Francisco advisory board of New Leaders Council, which trains and supports the next generation of progressive leaders. She previously served as Events Co-Director on the board of Good Ol’ Girls, a women’s professional network in San Francisco.
Outside of professional and volunteer work, Marta enjoys dancing, hiking, crafting, traveling, and spending way too much time perusing used bookstores.
