Dee Dee Pickard

Dee Dee Pickard is a Psychology major, minoring in Feminist Gender and Sexuality Studies with an interdisciplinary honors thesis in FGSS. She is a non-traditional, transfer student whose career as a professional vocalist proved to be a catalyst for an intense passion in Cultural Psychology. Raising her daughter (who will be starting college, herself, in the fall of 2018!) has kept her accountable to research questions around women's unique states of mental health. Dee Dee's ongoing goal is to engage in work that calls on the need for and enacts change at institutional levels of activism, public policy, and healthcare by helping to fashion the social lenses through which we view matters of gender, intersectionality, race, ethnicity religion and class. Dee Dee has worked as a research assistant in the CESTA and SPARQ labs at Stanford and completed two terms of study abroad at Oxford University, where she plans to commence a DPhil program in Psychology in 2019. In her free time, she enjoys writing creative non-fiction and taking her Mini Dachshund, Sadie, for long walks.
