Zoë Gioja

History

Zoë Gioja is a PhD candidate in History and a PhD minor in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her work explores transpacific connections between Korea, the United States, and Japan in the twentieth century. Her research focuses on transnational women's organizing in South Korea during the Cold War. This project follows a variety of interrelated historical actors, from Red Cross volunteers and leaders of both Korean and American women's organizations to the first policewomen in South Korea. Her teaching engages with comparative studies of empire, transnational history, and methodologies of gender and sexuality studies.
